Recreational Coaches

Melissa Romaszewski- Recreational Director

Melissa is a former women’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. Melissa has coached with Twisters since 2000 and is currently completing her level 3 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and is level 2 trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 3, and reached the National level. After which, Melissa transitioned to competitive dance and cheerleading. In 2007, she placed 8th at the Cheerleading World Championships with Team BC. She currently teaches 3 Year Olds and Interclub, in addition to being our Recreational Program Director. 

Sara Biluk- Recreational Administrative Assistant

Sara is a former competitive gymnast and dancer. Sara has coached with Twisters since 2010 and is level 2 NCCP certified in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She began competitive gymnastics at age 5, and continued for 6 years. After which, she competitively danced for 4 additional years. Sara has vast dance experience in: lyrical, jazz, hip hop, contortion, acrobatics, ballet, pointe, modern, and contemporary. Notably, Sara received “It’s All about Teamwork” award from American Dance Awards National Tour, as well as awards from both Canadian National Dance Championships and Dance World Cup for various performances. At Twisters Gymnastics, Sara coaches a variety of classes ranging from ages walking to adult, in addition to our Gymnaestrada program. To Sara, the biggest reward is witnessing an athlete learn a new skill and share in their excitement. 

Bernice

Bernice is a former competitive gymnast. Bernice brings 25+ years of experience to Twisters and has coached with Twisters since 2016. She is level 2 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. Bernice placed 1st all around at a competition when she decided to start teaching gymnastics and has taught a variety of ages and levels: from babies to seniors, beginners to champions, gymnasts to stunt people. Bernice hopes that each athlete leaves having had a fun experience in the sport of gymnastics.  Bernice believes that she has just as much to learn from the participants as they have to learn from her and leaves us with one of her favourite quotes: We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing. - George Bernard Shaw

Carissa

Carissa is a former women’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. She has coached with Twisters since 2012 and actively teaches recreational and competitive groups. Carissa is level 2 NCCP certified in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 3, and reached provincial level 4. Carissa was the 2012 level 4 Provincial Champion. Carissa is currently attending university taking classes in the criminology program. 

Chantel

Chantel is a current Interclub athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Chantel has coached with Twisters since 2016 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics. She began gymnastics at the age of 5. She enjoys coaching Advanced and Beginner classes. Chantel is looking forward to sharing her love for gymnastics with others.

Chiyoko

Chiyoko is a former competitive gymnast who began gymnastics at age 12 and reached the Canadian equivalent of Elite national level in Japan. The highlight of her gymnastics career was placing in the top 32 at the NHK Cup in Japan. Impressive still, is Chiyoko’s 25+ years of coaching experience and has coached with Twisters since 1989. She is level 2 NCCP certified in women’s artistic gymnastics and level 1 certified in trampoline. Chiyoko enjoys coaching preschool age gymnastics. Chiyoko enjoys both the great athletes and staff members, here at Twisters. She plans to keep coaching as long as possible!

Cohen

Cohen is a current men’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. Cohen has coached with Twisters since 2013 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. He began gymnastics at age 8, and has since reached the Jr level. Cohen is a previous parallel bars bronze medalist at Canadian National Championships. He loves working with kids, and brings this passion to his coaching. Upon completing high school, Cohen hopes to study mechanical engineering, as he enjoys building.

Diane

Diane has coached with Twisters since 2014 and is certified level 1 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics. Diane enjoys teaching Adapted Gymnastics, Beginner Kindergym and Beginner Girls Dynamos classes at Twisters. She obtained her Community Support Worker Certification. She loves both the energy and how well rounded gymnastics is as a sport.

Elijah

Elijah is a former men’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. He has coached with Twisters since 2011 and is certified level 2 NCCP in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. He has been involved in gymnastics since age 3 and reached National Open. Elijah was the 2013 Western Canadian High Bar Champion. Elijah teaches a wide variety of classes ranging from 3 year old to Saultos classes, in addition to Parkour. The family-like atmosphere at Twisters makes coaching even more enjoyable for Elijah. In the future, he plans to become a competitive coach.

Emily

Emily is a current women’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. Emily has coached with Twisters since 2014 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and currently completing her level 1 trampoline certification. She began gymnastics at age 8 and has since reached the JO10 level. Emily was the 2011 provincial champion and a Team BC member at the 2013 Canadian National Championships. Emily enjoys coaching Beginner and Advanced Kindergym and both Beginner and Advanced Girl’s Dynamo classes. Emily enjoys helping young athletes improve and learn new skills. In the future, Emily plans to attend university and has interest in pediatrics. 

Jessica

Jessica is a current Gymnaestrada member at Twisters Gymnastics. She has coached with Twisters since 2014 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. Jessica coaches a variety of classes from 3 year old to Advanced Girls Dynamos. She finds motivation to coach in the fun and positive atmosphere at Twisters, as well as her love of working with children. In the future, Jessica hopes to attend the University of British Columbia.  

Jillian

Jillian is a current Performance Plus athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Jillian has coached with Twisters since 2015 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and level 2 certified in trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 3 and has loved her experience with the sport. She is looking forward to sharing her passion for gymnastics with future students. After completing high school, Jillian plans to attend university.

Julie

Julie is a former National level gymnast with 9 years of experience as a competitive gymnast. She brings 9+ years of experience to Twisters and has coached with Twisters since 2015. Julie is certified level 2 NCCP in artistic gymnastics and level 1 trampoline. Julie competitively danced for 2 additional years after gymnastics in hip hop and contemporary.   Julie actively teaches recreational and competitive groups and enjoys teaching parent and tot and 3 year old classes. 

Kaia

Kaia is a current Interclub athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Kaia has volunteered with Twisters since 2015. She began gymnastics at age 8 and loves uneven bars. Kaia is excited to share her love of gymnastics while helping students advance their skills.

Kara

Kara is a former Interclub athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Kara has coached with Twisters since 2017 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 5 and loves being able to share her passion for gymnastics with her students. In the future, Kara aspires to become a teacher.

Katrina

Katrina is a previous women’s competitive team member and a current adult and Gymnaestrada participant. Katrina has coached with Twisters since 2011 and is certified level 2 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She was the 2013 level 2 Provincial Champion. Katrina teaches a wide variety of classes ranging from 3 Year Old to Interclub. She views coaching as a means of giving back to Twisters for all the positive experiences she has had. Katrina currently attends university for photography.

 

Maya

Maya is a current Gymnaestrada member at Twisters Gymnastics. Maya has coached with Twisters since 2014 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She has been involved in gymnastics since age 5. During which she has achieved a cartwheel back tuck dismount on balance beam. Maya enjoys coaching 3 year old, Beginner Kindergym as well as Beginner and Advance Girls Dynamos classes. Maya is motivated to coach, as she feels Twisters is a great work environment and enjoys the teaching process.

Rachel

Rachel is a current Gymnaestrada and adult participant at Twisters Gymnastics. Rachel has coached with Twisters since 2014 and is certified level 2 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and certified in level 1 trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 7 and was previously the Female Interclub Athlete of the Year. She teaches a wide variety of classes ranging from Beginner Kindergym to Interclub. Rachel finds the teaching process both fun and rewarding.

Sarah H.

Sarah is a former Interclub athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Sarah has coached with Twisters since 2015 and is certified level 1 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She began gymnastics at the age of 2 and continued for 11 years. After which, she danced for additional year in: ballet and jazz. She enjoys teaching Beginner and Advanced Girls Dynamos classes. Sarah enjoys working with kids, and is excited to get to coach them.

Sarah M.

Sarah is a current Performance Plus Interclub athlete with Twisters Gymnastics. Sarah has coached with Twisters since 2015 and is certified level 1 NCCP in women’s artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She began gymnastics at age 8, and has been with Twisters since age 12. She has volunteered for our Canada Day event at Rotary Stadium and was inspired to work with young students. Sarah feels Twisters is the perfect environment to pass on her gymnastics knowledge to young, eager athletes.

Sasha

Sasha is a current Interclub athlete at Twisters Gymnastics. Sasha has volunteered with Twisters since 2015. She began gymnastics at age 10 and won the “Excellent Execution” Award at the 2015 Delta Interclub Meet. Sasha loves being at Twisters because of the fun, positive environment. In the future, she hopes to continue receiving high grades and eventually find a career in the medical field.

Vanessa

Vanessa is a former women’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. Vanessa has coached with Twisters since 2015 and is level 1 NCCP certified in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. She reached provincial level 5 and was the 2011 all-around champion at the BC Provincial Championships. She enjoys teaching Beginner and Advanced Girls Dynamos, and Girls Saultos classes. Vanessa is passionate about gymnastics because of its physical, mental, and artistic components.

Yosuke

Yosuke is a previous men’s competitive team member at Twisters Gymnastics. He began gymnastics at age 8 and reached National Novice level. Yosuke was a provincial team member at both Western and National Championships. He has coached with Twisters since 2011 and is certified level 1 and 2 NCCP in artistic gymnastics and trampoline. Yosuke aims to inspire his athletes through new challenges. In the future, he hopes to complete his level 4 NCCP in men’s artistic gymnastics. Outside of gymnastics, he aspires to create and run an international tourism company.
